A thriving country-coastal community is emerging at Parklea’s Parklands Estate at Wonthaggi, as more and more families choose the relaxed lifestyle of the Bass Coast.
Since building their first home at Parklands in 2018 as newlyweds, Rhiannon and Troy Cazaly have watched their family and the estate grow around them.
Rhiannon said the couple love the vibe of Parklands and think it is the perfect place to raise their two little girls.
“We are so excited to see more of the stages open up. Since building our home we have grown our family with two beautiful girls and are looking forward to have them grow along with the estate,” said Rhiannon.
“The sense of community is starting to grow strongly now, especially now that we are no longer in a pandemic. Everyone we have met is welcoming, helpful and it gives us a sense of peace knowing we have made the right choice in building our home and growing our family in the Parklands estate.”
A close-knit community in action
A few months ago, Rhiannon’s ‘fur’ babies escaped their yard. A fellow resident rescued the escapees, took them in, posted on the local Facebook page and had found out where the Cazalys lived and returned the pets home and secured the gate before Rhiannon returned home.
“Our fur children were, of course, very proud of themselves and their adventure they went on, but when I found out I went through every emotion and was extremely grateful for the lady’s help. After calling her and expressing my appreciation I got the opportunity to meet another one of our community,” said Rhiannon.
“I am very grateful and know how lucky we are to be raising our family in this amazing community.”
A haven for new parents and their little ones
Equally happy to be raising her daughter at Parklands is young mum Hannah Main.
Hannah and husband Sean moved into their home in Parklands in July 2021. They have since welcomed daughter Esme.
“I fell in love with the area when we were looking to purchase land,” said Hannah.
“The park nearby and the promise of linked walking tracks between the existing and new developments were selling points for us. The estate is a perfect distance from the busy local street but still close enough to walk on a nice day. Schools are close by as well.”
Hannah is one of 16 new mums who regularly get together to share their parenting experiences.
“I love that we are surrounded by families. The estate has a welcoming environment with many people walking their dogs and children playing in the park.
“We have lovely neighbours and have made many friends within the estate.”
Building a life you’ll love in Wonthaggi
Rhiannon Cazaly describes Wonthaggi as a “large regional town with a small town vibe” making it easy to meet people.
“When we first started the build we met our neighbours. One was wanting to retire here and the others were locals. As time went on we learnt that the builder of our home was also building in the street and everything just started to go from there. My husband and myself work full time at one of the local businesses in Wonthaggi and I have been amazed at all the people that we interact with on a daily basis and the new ones we have met that are also a part of our estate.“
Rhiannon says Wonthaggi is great for family living as it is close to the beach and has all the amenities needed for a growing family.
“We enjoy that whatever direction we go in we will find something new to experience. We are excited now that the pandemic is over, we are starting to see the return of family friendly events including travelling theatre shows, car shows, markets, the Wonthaggi show, Christmas events and many more.”
Spacious lots for families of every size
Parklea General Manager Corporate Jarod Mills says Parklands stage 7 is selling strongly. Stage 7 has 21 lots ranging in size from 512 square metres to 1,193 square metres.
He said the aesthetics of the estate look “amazing” and strong sales at the end of 2023 mean all titled blocks have been sold and the next stage is ready to commence.
“Parklands is another example of Parklea’s commitment to building quality land estates with a strong sense of community,” Mr Mills said.
Rhiannon Cazaly said she would encourage other families looking for a quieter, rural lifestyle close to the beach to visit Wonthaggi and Parklands.
“You will never regret it, make the leap and come join our growing community,” she said.
